When should you choose a hybrid inverter?
A hybrid inverter replaces your current inverter and gets your installation ready for storage and smart control.
“I want a battery, but I have a standard inverter”
A standard string inverter cannot charge or control a battery. This hybrid inverter replaces it (your panels stay in place) and connects directly to a compatible home battery.
- Suitable for roofs with multiple orientations
- DC coupling with the battery: less conversion loss
- Add a battery now or later: the system is ready for it
“I want to trade on dynamic prices”
With a smart energy meter added, the system responds to hourly prices and peak periods: charging when power is cheap, discharging when it's expensive.
- Works with dynamic suppliers such as Zonneplan, Tibber and ANWB Energie
- Per-phase monitoring via the app
- Whisper-quiet, suitable for indoors
The Delta Energy Systems RPI M8A is a 8 kW three-phase inverter that converts the DC power from your solar panels into usable AC power for your home and the grid.

Installation by a certified installer is required. This product may only be installed by a certified installer, in accordance with NEN 1010 and the manufacturer's installation instructions. The manufacturer warranty is only valid if you can demonstrate that installation was carried out professionally, for example with an installation invoice from the installer. Keep that proof.
Questions about this product
Up to 8.8 kWp of panels, against 8 kW the inverter delivers on the grid side. That 1.1x oversizing is deliberate: panels reach peak output only a handful of hours a year, so an inverter sized exactly to the array sits idle most of the time. At roughly 430 Wp per panel, 8.8 kWp works out at about 20 panels.
The RPI M8A is a three-phase inverter, so your home needs a three-phase connection. Many Dutch terraced houses do not have one and are single-phase. Connecting it to a single-phase supply is not possible without the grid operator upgrading the connection, which can take months and is billed separately. Check this before ordering.
5 years of manufacturer warranty. On an inverter the term matters more than on a battery, because the inverter is the part that in practice gets replaced first: it contains power electronics that heat up and switch, where a battery mostly sits still. Do not extend the term blindly for a fee without checking what is actually covered; the conditions are in the manufacturer's document.
