BYD home battery: all models and prices
BYD Battery-Box is one of the most widely used home battery brands in the Netherlands, using LFP technology in capacities from 3 to 12 kWh. Compare all BYD models we supply below, incl. VAT and manufacturer warranty.
What does a BYD home battery cost and which inverter do you need?
BYD home batteries cost between 1,222 and 11,205 euro including VAT here, in capacities from 3 to 30 kWh. We carry 53 BYD battery models. Measured across the whole Dutch market, BYD sells at 361 euro per kWh, about 10 percent above the Dutch market median of 328 euro per kWh. That figure comes from our own price index covering 1,020 offers at 61 shops. Every BYD model we sell uses LFP cell chemistry, established per model from a manufacturer document. One BYD model we checked turned out to use a different chemistry and is therefore not in the shop.
BYD has 111 inverter combinations officially released, including with Afore, Canadian Solar, Deye and Fronius. A BYD battery only works with an inverter the manufacturer has approved for it. Installation belongs with a certified installer, because the battery is wired into the consumer unit. The same model costs a median 22 percent more at the dearest Dutch shop, so compare on model number.
From that date the feed-in credit for solar power largely disappears. A home battery lets you use more of your own generated power yourself, including in the evening, instead of exporting it at a low rate.

Frequently asked questions
BYD home batteries cost between 1,222 and 11,205 euro including VAT here, in capacities from 3 to 30 kWh. That works out at a median 407 euro per kWh. It is the battery itself: on a permanently installed system an inverter and the installation come on top. We carry 53 BYD models with a known capacity, plus 4 separate parts such as BMS and connection modules, which store no energy and are therefore outside this price range.
Measured across the whole Dutch market, BYD sells at 361 euro per kWh, about 10 percent above the Dutch market median of 328 euro per kWh. That is a market figure rather than a verdict on the brand, taken from our own price index covering 1,020 offers at 61 Dutch online shops, measured between 2026-08-16 and 2026-09-01. The same model costs a median 22 percent more at the dearest Dutch shop than at the cheapest, so comparing on model number usually pays better than switching brand. The middle half of all Dutch offers sits between 249 and 424 euro per kWh.
BYD has 111 inverter combinations officially released across 19 brands, including Afore, Canadian Solar, Deye and Fronius. A battery only works with an inverter the manufacturer has approved for that combination: voltage and communication protocol both have to match, or it will not charge even if the connectors fit. Our compatibility table holds 544 approved combinations, each row naming its source document.
Yes. Every BYD model we sell uses LFP, lithium iron phosphate, established per model from a document published by the manufacturer itself. One BYD model we checked turned out to use a different chemistry and was therefore not listed. LFP is why we carry nothing else: the chemistry is thermally more stable than NMC, and it is also the requirement in our own insurance terms. The full per-model check is in our open cell chemistry dataset.
Yes. A battery of this type is wired permanently into the consumer unit, which is work for a certified electrician under NEN 1010, and the installer also registers the installation with the grid operator. We supply the hardware; installation you arrange yourself or through our installation partner on request. Wiring it yourself in practice voids the factory warranty and can affect your buildings insurance.
BYD runs from 3 to 30 kWh here, across 53 models. Which size you need follows from your annual consumption, your generation and whether you have a heat pump or an electric car, not from roof size alone. Per kWh, bigger is usually cheaper: on the Dutch market the median around 10 kWh is 364 euro per kWh and around 20 kWh it is 299 euro per kWh.
Where do these figures come from?
Every number on this page comes from one of our three open datasets. They are built independently of our own stock and cover brands we do not sell, so the measurement does not depend on what happens to be in our shop.
- Dutch home battery price index Median 328 euro per kWh including VAT, measured across 1,020 offers at 61 Dutch online shops between 2026-08-16 and 2026-09-01. With medians per capacity class and per brand, and the full method including every exclusion rule.
- Cell chemistry per model The cell chemistry of every home battery we sell, established per model, each row naming the manufacturer document it came from, plus the models rejected after checking.
- Battery and inverter compatibility 544 manufacturer-released combinations of home battery and inverter, merged from official compatibility documents, each row naming its conditions and its source document.
